Wedding Planning Checklist

          Here is a check list to help brides plan their special day.

12 Months Before Wedding

____Determine the date of your wedding.
____Buy or design your own Wedding Planner. You can start with a Binder with dividers for various topics.
____Now is the time to talk to a Bridal Consultant if you are going to use one.
____Set a budget for your wedding. Determine how much you can spend for each element of your wedding.
____
Determine who will pay for what.
____Go to Bridal Shows. Check the schedule of upcoming Bridal Shows in your area.
____Determine the number of guests you can afford to invite.
____
Determine your color scheme.
____Determine the degree of formality for your wedding.
____Will you have a Church Wedding, Garden Wedding, Destination Wedding, etc.
____Visit Reception venues and determine the best one for your wedding reception.
____Book your reception location as soon as possible. They book early.
____Announce your engagement in the newspaper.
____Arrange for your families to meet, if they haven't done so already.
____Consider having an engagement party.
____Reserve the wedding ceremony location.
____Have your invitations printed.

 

10 Months Before Wedding

____Choose your Attendants and the rest of your wedding party.
____Book the entertainment for your reception, DJ, band, musicians.
____Book your wedding transportation.
____
Book your florist.
____Book your photographer and videographer if desired.
____Book your caterer. Arrange for a tasting with your caterer.
____Book your cake decorator. Don't forget your cake top, cake knife and server.
____Select your wedding gown and your bridesmaids' dresses and don't forget accessories such as shoes, jewelry, everyone should wear the same style of hosiery.
____Mail save the date cards to the guests of your wedding.
____Plan the honeymoon. Don't forget passports.
____Rent tents, chairs, tables, dishes, linens, etc.

 

6 Months Before Wedding

____Are you responsible for identifying possible wedding accommodations for        out-of- town guests? Now is the time to book hotels.
____Send guests written directions to ceremony and reception.
____Start making your wedding favors and table decorations.
____Book your wedding night accommodations.                     
____Sign up for your gift registries.
____Choose the wedding attire for the groom and his attendants.
____Choose the bride and grooms wedding rings.
____Determine the hairstyle you will wear on your wedding day. This will affect the selection of your veil, tiara, hair jewelry, hair flowers, etc.   You might want to have a hair stylist determine the best style for you. Take pictures of your wedding dress and take any hair accessories you will wear on your wedding day.
____
Book a hairdresser and beautician for your wedding day.

3 Months Before Wedding

____Make sure your out of town guests have overnight accommodations.
____
Apply for a marriage license. You may need blood tests for your marriage license.
____Determine the readings, music and hymns you wish to have at the ceremony.
____Set the time and date with the officiant of your wedding for the rehearsal.
____Book the rehearsal dinner location.
____Write your wedding vows.
____Buy a beautiful wedding guest book.
____Buy gifts for your wedding party.
____Purchase your going away outfits for before you leave the reception.
____Confirm the menu with your caterer.
____Determine your seating plan with the caterer.
____Determine your cake design.
____Confirm times with your photographer.
____Prepare a play list for your DJ.
____Do you need vaccinations for your honeymoon location.
____Complete name change documents.
____Send wedding announcements to local newspapers.
____You need to develop a detailed plan for your wedding day.
____Reconfirm your honeymoon arrangements.
____Purchase a gift for the groom.
____Purchase ring pillow, flower girl basket, goblets, garter belt, candles, etc.
____Choose the music for your first dance, parent's dances.
____Arrange for a plant waterer, pet sitter, babysitter, etc., for while you are on your honeymoon.
____Write thank you notes as you receive gifts.
____Print your wedding programs.

           

1 Month Before Wedding

____Reconfirm the wedding arrangements with all your wedding vendors.
____Determine where your cake, presents, card table will be.
____Prepare a list of the formals and other pictures that are must takes for the photographer.
____Type up the travel plans and contact information for your honeymoon and give them to family members, babysitter, etc.
____Create welcome baskets for out-of-town guests.
____Send change-of-address information to post office.
____Review your RSVP list and call guests who have not yet responded.
____Print the place cards and table cards.

 

1 Week Before Wedding

____Pack your bags for the honeymoon.
____Take a few days off work before your wedding.
____Give a list to the best man of any issues he will be in charge of on the wedding day. Do the same for the ushers, maid of honor and bridesmaids.
____Determine who will be in your receiving line and where each person will stand.  
____Wear in your wedding shoes a little.
____Make sure all your wedding attire fits.
____Don't forget something old, new, borrowed.
____Grooms should have their hair trimmed.
____
Get your haircut. Have your hairstyle trial with veil.
____Pack a small bag with band-aids, safety pins, tissue, needle and thread, hairspray, Bobby pins, makeup,  etc., for the wedding day.     

 

Day Before the Wedding

____Have a manicure and pedicure.

Wedding Day

____Eat a good Breakfast.
____Give gifts to your parents.
____Don't forget your hairdresser and makeup appointments.
____Allow plenty of time to get dressed.
